LEEDS BECKETT BACKS BUSINESS
Promoting the success and growth of businesses throughout the Yorkshire region is just one of the reasons that the Yorkshire Mafia (YM) launched Leeds Business Week (LBW).
Taking positive messages from the companies and entrepreneurs that get involved, which underpin the week-long schedule of events, LBW is bursting at the seams with inspiration, advice and support for businesses at all stages of their journey.
Further endorsing this philosophy are returning sponsors of LBW, Leeds Business School who assure us that this year they will be running more sessions and sharing even more exciting opportunities than ever before!
Making Education Everybody’s Business
As a part of Leeds Beckett University, which educates 28,000 students from over 100 countries around the world and employs an impressive 2,900 members of staff, the business school is just one of the reasons that the institution has become a big business in its own right.
Contributing an estimated £500 million to the local economy every year, the university is keen to showcase its commitment to the development, growth and future of Leeds whilst sharing knowledge and making connections amongst the local business community.
Speaking about the reasons for getting involved with the event, George Lodorfos, Dean of Leeds Business School, comments:
“There is no other event where people from so many different companies can get together to share knowledge, make connections and talk about the future of Leeds. As an Anchor Institution we’re committed to supporting the development, growth and future of Leeds and the wider region, and there is no better forum for discussing this than Leeds Business Week.”
George continues:
“We also want to raise awareness of what we do and the ways in which we can work in partnership with the wider business community in Leeds; whether this is through knowledge exchange, leadership and management development, consultancy work, student engagement or taking part in a research project.”
Nurturing Students and Businesses Alike
Emphasising that its offering includes something for everyone, extending further than the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes that it is so well-known for, representatives from the Business School will share details of the recently launched Degree Apprenticeships and Customer Service Excellence Awards, alongside the range of inspiring projects that offer support to SME’s from start-up to expansion and beyond.
Asked who the Business School is hoping to engage with at LBW, George comments:
“We are looking to engage with everyone! From SME’s to larger businesses, there are plenty of opportunities for us to work together. Whether businesses are looking to forge a relationship with our students, receive business support from our academic experts or learn about current business debates through our guest lecture series, we’ve got plenty of news to share!”
Leeds: The New London
Predicting a bright future for Leeds and making reference to its thriving financial and business district, which is helped in no small part through the work that Leeds Business School delivers to educate the next generation of leaders, the university champions the city as an amazing destination for graduates that want to develop their careers in the region, rather than heading to London.
George comments:
“We love working with businesses from the Yorkshire region because of the drive, creativity and passion that companies exhibit. These qualities set a great example for our students and are just some of the traits that we hope will inspire the young people we teach throughout their time with us.”
Sharing their Business School Expertise
As sponsors of LBW, Leeds Business School will be hosting a number of events which will take place on the 10th and 11th October. The events will include:
